Listening to the debates the last two nights, it seems that they are running on the message that trump is the sole reason for all things bad in America and around the world. They would rather embrace a nation (Iran) that to this day throws gays off of buildings and women are still stoned in the streets, than actually attempt to simply focus on America.
I haven’t watched. We don’t watch TV at all😲 Trump is not a politician, he has no idea what he’s doing. It’s McConnell who scares me. Plus all the dim-bulb “advisors” Trump surrounds himself with.
As for Iran, I still remember the hostage crisis. We need to fix our own problems, not start another freakin war.
Yeah, since trump signed the presidential action allowing the keystone pipeline and others to commence, America for the first time ever is an energy exporter. We no longer have any need to go to war for oil.
Is it just trump and McConnell though Granny? Do you ever wonder if the entire gamut of elected representatives and presidential hopefuls are all just trying to sell snake oil? Why else would states be beholden to the federal government for funds?
The message is clear. The government like a vampire has been invited into our homes and once the government sinks its claws into our families and our wallets, they will never leave.
Just look at how the civil war is portrayed and educated. The slave trades that were taking place in the north is never discussed. If we are foolhardy enough to believe that the civil war was fought solely over slavery…why wouldn’t the history books decades from now distribute the same lies that they always have?
You’re absolutely right that the civil war didn’t start out being about slaves. It was about state rights. The federal government was never supposed to have as much power as they do. It’s supposed to represent us at the international level, uphold the constitution, stuff like money & mail…
McConnell bugs me cuz he’s like a freakin dictator. Refusing to hold hearings for supreme court when Scalia died was ridiculous. He’s not doing his job, or only doing the parts he wants to.
The whole freakin government is broken. And we’re to blame. Not you & me, but everyone who doesn’t vote. Everyone who can’t be bothered to find out what these people running stand for and hold them accountable.
Ya know, I keep hoping… People seem to be waking up. Or at least there are groups shouting loudly.
In any regard, the factions are dividing deeper as time marches forward. Candidates are being elected not on policy or on what rights they won’t trample, but rather how cool or witty or what “diversity” boxes they check off.
We no longer desire independence as individuals. We are all looking to stick it to the other side and restrict the other.
Ever notice how legislation is always aimed at everyone else?
What’s really funny is that the Republicans used to be the “radical” party and the Democrats were the “conservatives” . I wonder how many people know that?
No degrees needed and maybe “politician” isn’t the best word. I just meant that Trump is not qualified. If couse, he’s not the first unqualified president we’ve had.
I think to be qualified to serve one should have some understanding about our government and the office they want to fill. It’s gotten to be such a popularity contest. Like American Idol or something.
I always thought that the president should have served on active duty in a true combat role. But alas, I guess it’s too much to ask that the commander in chief actually serve their country on the front lines of actual war. Like infantry or tanks or special operations. No support roles.
I see the “American Idol” side of your argument for sure. However, I think that an “understanding about our government” is something we all see differently. It’s like with any other job – you have someone with a degree and someone without one. There’s a chance that they both will do well. There’s also a chance that the one without the degree will work harder (and do more) than the one who has a degree.
I see your point and agree that someone without the degree may work harder. I wasn’t saying that career politicians are better qualified. Not at all. I think bringing new people in brings in new ideas and different ways of looking at things. My point with Trump was that I believe he expected to be the CEO of the country, and CEO isn’t the same job as President.
In a broad sense the head of any group should want the group to do well. A corporation is about making money for the shareholders. Not overly concerned with the employees. Give them enough to keep them working so the shareholders get their money.
That’s not the job description of POTUS.
Specifically regarding Trump, I think he only cares about what’s best for Trump and friends.
All of this is just my opinion. I’m not trying to convince anyone that my opinion is worth more than anyone else’s.
I happen to like your opinion, King Ben’s Granny. 🙂

Sure, we all are entitled to our opinions.
With that being said, I see where you’re coming from regarding the stakeholders vs. employees. But like in a company, if the country is not doing well, then the employees (citizens) won’t either. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to make everyone happy.

I will say though, AOC has no idea of how government works either.
That’s my thought as well. The left already and has owned the education of America, why would they ever stop blaming the right for everything that is wrong in life and the world over.
Exactly! It’s getting pretty scary out there. Is there anyone out there that still actually uses their brain? Or has any common sense? I am beginning to seriously doubt it.
Nope, not a single person is fit to lead. Represent, perhaps, but that would require actual representation. And we all know how that never takes place.
In my opinion Jeanne. What each of us feel is America is completely subjective. Based on our own personal beliefs, values and experiences.
At the same time, in my opinion. I think complacency and personal debt has a lot to do with why we invited the government into our homes and families. We forgot how to truly provide and protect ourselves. We forgot that it is entirely incumbent upon ourselves as individuals to pay our debts off. That it is our personal responsibility as individuals to plan for retirement. That it is our personal responsibility as individuals to maintain our own health, both physical and mental.
We have looked to the government and schools for too long for direction and meaning.
If there ever were another civil war blaming anyone would be sooo inconsequential because nothing would ever again be as it was no matter how hard the survivors would try. Absolutely no one would win.
It’s a catchy tune Ivor, but what is the cost of that kind of peace? Peace is a very tricky term, does it mean to surrender or does it mean live and let live?
Then the human nature your talking about needs to be educated and changed on a grand scale, there’s plenty of money to spend on making the world grand, . “Again”… politicians are fuck-wits, they wash their in blood every morning, the world is fucked, if they don’t use their power to make a change………. the greed of mankind…….
We Are Not Worthy Nor Grand !!!!!
No more shit from from me, on shit a subject…. obviously no one gives a fuck…….
Not Trump, he’s a putz, but definitely both parties would blame the other.

I never heard that before. Can you put that into context Granny?

Thanks Granny, that is incredibly interesting. I have never heard of any of that before.
Happy to be of service😉 My brain holds into trivia but I can’t remember what day of the week it is😂
lol
What does it take to be considered a politician? Does one have to have a degree in politics to qualify?
Nope, just pay the $2k (or whatever the filing cost is) and then you can run. I think you have to at least poll around 1% to be eligible for a debate.
I was asking because KBG said that the President is not a politician. SO I wondered what it took to be one (in her opinion).
Gotcha, my mistake Goldie.

Anyway, my two cents.

How is it different? As a CEO and the President, your main goal should be the good of your company (i.e. country).
In a broad sense the head of any group should want the group to do well. A corporation is about making money for the shareholders. Not overly concerned with the employees. Give them enough to keep them working so the shareholders get their money.

I honestly don’t know much about her except she’s young, new to government and outspoken
Of course they would. They already blame President Trump for everything as it is.
That’s my thought as well. The left already and has owned the education of America, why would they ever stop blaming the right for everything that is wrong in life and the world over.

HOW did we ever get to this state we’re in? This is not the America I know and love.
In my opinion Jeanne. What each of us feel is America is completely subjective. Based on our own personal beliefs, values and experiences.

That in my opinion Jeanne is how we got here.
Very well said. I could not agree more.
Probably, as they are rewriting history even as we speak and is not teaching it in schools.
The schools are for the state, not for the individual. At least since the formation of the department of education anyway.
If there ever were another civil war blaming anyone would be sooo inconsequential because nothing would ever again be as it was no matter how hard the survivors would try. Absolutely no one would win.
Just like the civil war. Regardless Doug, the historians will pick a winner and a loser, depending on current goals
Grasp the larger picture… who will be around to even care to write the history?
OMG Doug, your missing the entire premise of the question.
The premise behind the question is, what has already happened with revisionist history, will it continue to happen if a civil war were to break out?
No, they would probably blame ‘Mark Chapman’
Give peace a chance …
What’s changed………
The speeches haven’t …….

It’s a catchy tune Ivor, but what is the cost of that kind of peace? Peace is a very tricky term, does it mean to surrender or does it mean live and let live?
Peace means fuck off military bosses and their money greedy backers, like dick-headed Presidents……..
When the military bosses are properly fucked off, their void will be filled by another evil. It’s human nature.

No more shit from from me, on shit a subject…. obviously no one gives a fuck…….
LOL, preach Ivor, preach!!!
Typical American attitude,… who never gives a fuck about the rest of the world, unless they can make a Dollar out of it…….
Do I care about myself or the world? I can only do one or the other.
When you’re on a plane and things go wrong. You have to put your oxygen mask on before you can help others.
If I cannot breath, how can I be expected to help others breath as well?
Definitely!
Probably.
I think that he would receive the majority of the blame.
