Howard Schultz, the CEO of Starbucks is peddling the idea of an Independent run for the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election. He cites how the left has moved further left and the right has moved further right. Schultz, puts pen to paper and outlines that the practice of free healthcare, free college and a raise to the minimum wage would actually be devastating to the entirety of America.
However, he is a staunch critic of President Trump. So, where does his loyalty truly lie? On the surface it would seem that his initial interest in running is to right the ship that in his mind, President Trump has willfully led astray.
Schultz says he wants to help America, Schultz also touts his business mentality and his business prowess. The last businessman that was hired for the job, was President Trump, so I don’t understand how he is attempting to create sunlight between himself and the President.
On the left, Schultz is seen as a party divider. The left speculates that if in fact Schultz does toss his hat into the ring, that it will solidify a second term for President Trump. The left, the Democrats and their most ardent supporters view Schultz as a saboteur, ruining their odds of future victory over the American people.
Only time will tell if another competitor will enter the race from the right. If a 21st century Ross Perot were to step into the ring on the right, it would surely be a blood bath.
If all we have is the left or the right, then will we ever come together? Do we vote for the party, the person or ourselves? If the parties cannot deal with competition, then what are we left with.
The more things remain, the less they are likely to ever change. What’s old is new again. Is Schultz the man? Probably not, but will anyone ever be the chosen one, the one that will deliver us from ourselves?
A slugfest in D.C. is better than a civil war on Main Street. There is no place of intersection between 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and Capital Hill with Anytown U.S.A.
His Majesty the President and the Lords and Ladies of D.C. along with the Republican National Committee (RNC) and the Democrat National Committee (DNC) pick and choose the candidate for U.S. President. That is, ever since we shirked our civic duty and outsourced the responsibility to a “Not-For-Profit”, tax shelter for the lobbyists and the untouchables.
If we cannot sabotage the system, then the system will continue to sabotage us.
