What Howard Schultz Reveals…

Howard Schultz, the CEO of Starbucks is peddling the idea of an Independent run for the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election. He cites how the left has moved further left and the right has moved further right. Schultz, puts pen to paper and outlines that the practice of free healthcare, free college and a raise to the minimum wage would actually be devastating to the entirety of America.

However, he is a staunch critic of President Trump. So, where does his loyalty truly lie? On the surface it would seem that his initial interest in running is to right the ship that in his mind, President Trump has willfully led astray.

Schultz says he wants to help America, Schultz also touts his business mentality and his business prowess. The last businessman that was hired for the job, was President Trump, so I don’t understand how he is attempting to create sunlight between himself and the President.

On the left, Schultz is seen as a party divider. The left speculates that if in fact Schultz does toss his hat into the ring, that it will solidify a second term for President Trump. The left, the Democrats and their most ardent supporters view Schultz as a saboteur, ruining their odds of future victory over the American people.

Only time will tell if another competitor will enter the race from the right. If a 21st century Ross Perot were to step into the ring on the right, it would surely be a blood bath.

If all we have is the left or the right, then will we ever come together? Do we vote for the party, the person or ourselves? If the parties cannot deal with competition, then what are we left with.

The more things remain, the less they are likely to ever change. What’s old is new again. Is Schultz the man? Probably not, but will anyone ever be the chosen one, the one that will deliver us from ourselves?

A slugfest in D.C. is better than a civil war on Main Street. There is no place of intersection between 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and Capital Hill with Anytown U.S.A.

His Majesty the President and the Lords and Ladies of D.C. along with the Republican National Committee (RNC) and the Democrat National Committee (DNC) pick and choose the candidate for U.S. President. That is, ever since we shirked our civic duty and outsourced the responsibility to a “Not-For-Profit”, tax shelter for the lobbyists and the untouchables.

If we cannot sabotage the system, then the system will continue to sabotage us.

  1. Wow! Great opinion piece, 007. Your mind is working overtime with this one. It seems these days I can stop over on your page to get bit and pieces from what I missed on the News (along with your formidable, yet controversial opinion).

  2. Man, I have just been in a major slug fest over political differences. I honestly don;t know if we will ever be able to recoup. We are so divided, and there is absolutely NO common ground anymore from which to build. I was just on FB and and a friend of mine, a real friend whom I have known since I was 12, posted something as a joke. I thought it was funny and made a comment on it. then a mutual friend of ours, whom we have also known since we were 12, said it was very offensive to her, and we are what’s wrong with the country, and it is our fault, that the country is in such a state, blah, blah, blah. So I asked her why is OK for one side to be able to say horrible things, and untruths, and to call anyone who disagrees with them all the horrible names in the book, but God forbid, something is done to one of their own, and all of a sudden it is so offensive and makes her feel sick. Needless to say, I am now public enemy #1 because i disagree with her thoughts. My point being, is that if no one is willing to accept our differences and move on from there, we will never be able to come together and to start anew.

Great post, by the way. I love your posts. They are always very thought provoking.

Thank you Jeanne. Steve and I talked about this very dynamic,

It’s also available on iTunes and google play.

That’s the thing, I we cannot grant freedom to those whom we disagree with, then how will we ever maintain our own freedom.

It’s a delicate balance and we need to stop looking to these douches for direction or even example.

          1. This is the latest response from that diatribe I was just telling you about. this was directed to me. I will spare you the whole things, but this is the kind of hatred and nastiness that is spewing.

I have not witnessed you thinking researching or being thoughtful. Responses I’ve seen from you have been reiteration of “the right” philosophy. I am happy to hear you say you research, though your posts don’t actually reflect that. I accept everyone. I will challenge you on your views, based on decency and morals, those that you profess I and other liberals don’t have. I DO think with my heart, and care for everyone, but I also was gifted with a “very good brain” so I tend to use it more than most. I don’t need thick skin. I’m thoughtful and considerate, and like myself that way. Thick skin is maybe why we are inconsiderate. We don’t walk in other people’s shoes enough. If that image above was your face with a swaztika on it, how would you feel.
I’m done with this conversation, as it’s clear I need to “get over it”… but see what you posted. There is no balance in your words. No “Independent” openness. And there is “truth”. Facts are facts and truth is truth. There is no middle ground on truth or facts. They exist. That you can’t see or know that makes your rigid and narrow focused. Truth is truth and facts are facts. You might want to look at that.

It seems to me that everyone is more concerned with winning than actually just talking.

Everyone wants to be the “smartest person in the room”. Instead of listening to each other, all we do it talk at one another, no one hears the other.

Have you ever witnessed toddlers or children having a conversation with one another? One will say “I like trucks, the other will say I went to the movies” so, they are talking at one another, but neither is actually hearing the other.

I think this is what we do with each other now. No one is listening, everyone is just talking over the other. Trying to win the “debate” with “facts” and “statistics”, like polls and data, who really knows where any of it came from?

So, all we end up doing is arguing over propaganda and who’s propaganda is better.

            2. You know, I am struck by her “I accept everyone” statement as she rails on you and, then, virtue signals with ‘using her very good brain more than most’ & ‘I’m thoughtful & considerate’. Then, she continues to tell you how ‘bad’ you are.

How DARE you view things differently.

My favorite part is “I’m done with this conversation” and the dramatic outrage. Yeah. She DOES need to get over herself & dig that wad of underwear out of her ass.

              Just my four cents, Jeanne…🤓

                1. Welcome, sweetie. I’ve really had my fill of the holier-than-thou, I’m-better-than-you types. I live in a small town where half the residents here have to stick a damn sign in their front yards to “signal” to others that they have the “correct beliefs and behaviors”:
                  In this house, we believe…
                  Black Lives Matter
                  Women’s Rights Are Human Rights
                  No Human Is Illegal
                  Science Is Real
                  Love Is Love
                  Kindness Is Everything

I need a sign in my front yard that says either “Physician, Heal Thyself” or “Moron, Keep Walking”. I haven’t decided, yet, which signals more virtue.

                  1. 🙂 🙂 🙂 Have a two-sided sign that says both, then you can change it depending on how you feel.

Thank you for the good words of advice. I am through with those types of people as well. I wish I lived in a small town like that. it sounds ideal. I think you and I would be good, fast friends if we lived close by. 🙂

    2. And, that right there is why I am no longer on FB. There is something about that medium that elevates insanity. Ditto Twitter, another one I am not on.

Too many people are ‘looking’ to be offended like declaring such is a badge of honor.

  3. It just shows the state of our politics – we try whatever we can to steer clear of an experienced politician. Kid Rock had quite a bit of traction when he talked about maybe running back in the day.

I see what these “less left” people are trying to do – poach those on the edge of the right.

Like others, I see this terrible rift in between, and it doesn’t seem like it’s narrowing. Just widening with every single day. Curious how it is so today, but wasn’t like that 8 years ago.

I think it’s been like that since, probably Clinton or W. It may have all started with the “hanging chads” and Gore on his quest for global domination with “climate change”. I think that’s when it became truly dirty.

  4. I don’t care who chooses to run for president – the more choices (even seemingly outlandish ones) the better. The two party system will never go out of style as long as viable third party candidates keep staying out of the conversation. They need to keep at it until third parties are normalized. There have been some third party candidates I thought were the best option and actually voted for – both in presidential and more local races. I also don’t give a crap if my vote “takes away” from another candidate…that’s the whole point of voting.

As far as whether I vote for a party, person or myself: I vote for whomever I think is best qualified for the job AND would (mostly) represent my own interests. So, ultimately, I guess I vote for myself.

    1. bottomlesscoffee007

That’s the thing Heather. The more competition there is, the better our chances of getting the best, right?

Why are they afraid of some competition?

      1. Exactly. I thought competition was the whole point in having a “race”. I guess I’m just not exactly sure why people feel so strongly about maintaining a two party system. I do understand why some people always vote for a particular party – though I don’t necessarily agree with their reasoning…but that’s not for me to judge or even dispute.

Thanks for sharing Victoria. That’s what I cannot grasp to be honest. The constant over correction. From one extreme to the next.

Also, this blanket guilt just makes it easier for individuals to get away with truly horrific crimes.

When we no longer look at the individual, we will always be lost.

        1. bottomlesscoffee007

That’s the thing isn’t it Victoria. We think we are so damn smart, we are so proud of ourselves. All we ever do is jump from one ship to the next.

Nothing has changed since the Old Testament. It seems to me that the Old Testament exhibits what we are and the New Testament is an example of what we could be.

We replace God with false idols, martyrs and saints. And none of this has done anything for any of us except keep us all in the Old Testament.

If evolution was true, then I think we would actually learn from our past mistakes, but we just keep on digging. Trying to prove to ourselves and everyone else that there is in fact gold in our stripped deed!

              1. Well, this is getting into religion and I don’t do religion. The Old Testament is an historical documentation of a peoples’ journey (and mistranslated over & over, again) and The New Testament was written by The Vatican.

Sorry. As far as I am concerned, religion is the worst thing that happened to us in the middle of The Human Plan. Our Creator does not require worship.

We are evolving. It is just a very slow process because there are those that want to stop us. And, sadly, we will either evolve (actually, return to what we once were) OR this entire Universe will collapse. We are already on our second go as it is…

Bottom line is that Schultz is just like Trump, a right-wing EBA (Egotistical Billionaire Asshole). So let him and Bloomberg (the other EBA = Egtistical Billionaire Asshole) run, and they all 3 can divide up the votes of the dummies who vote for them while we elect a real candidate OF THE PEOPLE! (Hopefully the Russians can be kept out of our election in 2020, unlike 2016 when Trump COLLUDED with the Russians to win.)

    1. bottomlesscoffee007

Hahahahaha, thank you for that, I needed the laugh.

You could be right, but where has that outrage been up until now? Who is the chosen one you speak of?

Is there a difference between the left or the right?

Is that all you got? Name calling and conspiracy theories?

      Nothing of substance?
