I Don’t Wanna Be A Nuisance

Well, just finished my first purge of 2019. Went through my subscriptions and unfollowed those whom I’ve had zero interaction with in the past 90 days.

I unfollowed bloggers that never commented or liked any of my content. I unfollowed bloggers where I had not liked or commented on any of their content within the past 90 days.

I’ll probably never get up into the 200’s, but I like it this way anyhow. I can still engage with my audience and I’m not just a number and neither are you.

If I’m still following you, it’s because we communicate and connect. If I unfollowed you, it’s nothing personal, we just don’t seem to have chemistry.

Any blogger whom I continued to follow after each purge has earned it. Whether through our interactions or I just adore their content. Nothing given and nothing taken.

  1. Thank you for your honesty about why you delete and keep certain bloggers. This is not being a nuisance at all. You have a Pod Cast that I find interesting and anyone who enjoys them should follow you and interact with you. I try to do my share of doing interacting with you. I hope I do. Have a great time this week Bottom;lesscoffee007 !!

Thanks myplace. I see it as an exchange. If I follow other bloggers that I don’t comment or like their content, it’s because I just don’t connect with what they are doing. That is completely fine, I just wanted to be clear and transparent with my audience.

      1. You did us all an understanding that we as your audience matters to you. This is a wonderful compliment to provide to your audience. Your are clear and transparent Bottomlesscoffee007 !!

  2. You and I talked about this….It’s not the “amount” of followers that makes a Blog successful. It’s the “interaction” with our fellow Bloggers.

Unfortunately, a lot of people don’t get this. Wanna hear a secret? I purge weekly. If I leave you a few “likes” or comments and I get nothing from you you’re gone; and it’s all good. I’d rather have 10 Followers that read what I write and interact with me than 100 who just follow and then disappear.

    Good on you, pal!

      1. lol I even commented on a post this morning on site on which the author never visited my blog- I was informed that the blog was intended for women only and to unfollow- I obliged her politely

  3. I’m going to be the lone voice of dissent. I appreciate any & all who visit my blog whether it is a one time visitor or a regular follower. I follow what I like to read. Sometimes, I visit blogs a lot and never ‘follow’.

I’ve watched folks follow me for a while then unfollow me (I can tell in stats). If you follow me to get a follow back because you are growing an audience, that is disingenuous & fake as hell. If you like what I post, you will like what I post. I’m not getting a revenue stream from hits like YouTube or desperate for attention like Instagram stars.

I remember the days before ‘follow’ & ‘like’ buttons’. Blogger never had that nonsense. This ain’t Fakebook despite WP’s attempt to act like it.

I comment & interact if I have something to say. Before likes, I knew I was getting hits with the stats.

The folks that really want to read my stuff are the email folks. They added their email for my posts but, they may not ever comment. I DON’T CARE.

Take what you need and go. Interacting with me to get my fuzzies all warm is not a requirement.

Honestly, if you unfollow me because I don’t stroke your ego enough…BYE FELECIA. I will still show up on your site if you have something I like. The TS that runs A Sweet Dose Of Reality is an ass. I won’t comment but, I still read.

    To each his own.

      1. Just my three cents… There is a particular blogger that I used to follow. She seemed nice enough but, after continual posts of her lamenting ‘serial likers’ that wouldn’t comment, I never returned. Dear GOD, STFU. The last thing I want to read is a whiny blogger that has her nose out of joint because her ass isn’t being kissed enough. OY. Not my idea of entertainment…

At the same time, I wanted to clean up “reader”, too many bloggers that I just didn’t connect with.

I just wanna be clear and transparent. I’m not just whining about likes and comments. I’m being upfront with those I unfollowed and letting them know that I don’t take it personal if they unfollowed me.

          1. Coffee, you don’t whine & you are as transparent as glass…at least you are here, in the blogosphere. You are as blunt as a brick with all the corners…”take me as I am” type. You are balanced & open-minded. I’ve enjoyed everyone of our exchanges.

Besides, the flip side of all of this is, unless you are running a biz or getting a revenue stream, there is a ‘maximum capacity’ point, too. How much time in the day do you have to follow & read 100+ bloggers? How much time, in that same day, do you have to post, however many times and, respond to each comment that comes in from, possibly, 100s or 1000s of followers? Coffee better be on a coffee drip with some peppy pills. 😳

I’ve seen some blogs with 5,000, 8,000, 10,000+ followers. HOW do you keep up with that if blogging is not for a biz? Sheesh. There is a diminishing return at some point.

My point exactly Victoria. If I cannot be courteous to you with your blog, I would expect the same in return.

  4. Thank you for keeping me around. Thank you for your honesty. I am personally quite fine and okay with people who may follow my blog, but don’t seem to comment or anything. I don’t care if they don’t like or comment – I am fine with it.

I just wanted to clean up my reader and be forthright with what I had done. I’m not looking for likes or comments.
