When Trump Doesn’t Visit the Troops

I once had a battalion commander that never took his battalion on a battalion run. It was rather nice for a change.

If Trump never visits the troops, then they won’t be forced into a ceremony. They won’t spend weeks getting their dress uniforms ready. They won’t spend weeks practicing drill and ceremony. They won’t be standing in formation for hours on end. Not allowed to move, sweating and being incredibly miserable.

I hated ceremonies in the military. They are the absolute worst. Sure, they are neat to look at. They are horrible to be a part of.

If Trump never visits the troops, then they will have more time to train or relax or whatever else they want to do. They can take comfort in knowing they will never have to waste their time for another painful pointless ceremony.

Obama would just talk and talk and talk about himself for hours. It’s nice to finally have a President that respects the troops enough to leave them alone. Besides, they already have enough to deal with.

  1. It’s good to get another perspective on this. The average civilian, like myself, would think it disrespectful for a seating president not to visit the troops. It is rather enlightening to hear from a former soldier that the troops would prefer to be left alone. Interesting!

Imagine an entire day of power point presentations standing outside the entire time. Not being allowed to talk, ask questions or sit. Absolutely miserable! 🥵

Exactly. That’s what it’s like for us out there under the sun, standing there at attention or parade rest. Plus your so far away you can’t even hear what is being said.

  2. You stated — “I hated ceremonies in the military. They are the absolute worst. Sure, they are neat to look at. They are horrible to be a part of.”

My response — I fully agree. I hated them when I was in.
