I love Christmas, the music, the decorations, the food, the sense of family and closeness. I remember going to the mall with my family when I was a child, holding hands and looking at everything with big bright eyes, so happy and yet so content. My parents would take turns handing us off to one another while one would shop for us the other would distract us at the wishing well, or trying on clothes for the winter season.
One parent would say to the other “I am going to go to the T-O-Y store, I wasn’t really paying attention, I was distracted by all of the shiny lights and the wonderful decorations. My parents loved us, and wanted us to grow up strong and intelligent, they always had our best interests in mind for every decision they made. Our Christmases were joyful and filled with laughter and love. It is truly my favorite holiday, we would even bake Jesus a birthday cake and sing him happy birthday.
It’s one thing for your family to keep you distracted while they shop for presents for you, it’s another thing for the media and the government to distract you in symphony. Never really stating what is true and what their plans are, just distracting you with shiny lights, fame and just enough information that has been run through a test base to give you the illusion of intelligence on your part. If they were truly transparent and honest they would not have any real money or power. They say things like Russia, collusion, homophobic, transphobic, racist, xenophobic, anti-woman, anti-muslim. All in the name of letting you the viewer and responsible citizen make the “smart informed” decision.
At the same time, the only power they hold, is the power and attention we give them free of charge. They do not have our best interests at heart, they are beholden to their shareholders and their bosses, they can write their own stories, but the margin that they are allowed to choose from is very narrow. It’s like, let’s talk about Trump, while we count our M-O-N-E-Y. Trump is a distraction as well as all of the other isms they throw at us. It’s all an illusion, giving us the trap to think that we are informed based off of their reporting. News and government is big business and business is booming.
